I am convinced - here is why:

In Hošé'a, at 5:5, it says "וְיִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶפְרַיִם, יִכָּשְׁלוּ בַּעֲוֺנָם--כָּשַׁל גַּם-יְהוּדָה, עִמָּם" = "and Yișra`él [Israel] and Ephràyim, shall be failed due to their felony - also Yəhudà [Judah] failed with them" - Judah appears in the singular form, "Israel and Ephràyim" do clearly appear in the plural, as two different entities. Hošé'a 10:11 goes even further, by predicting that "אַרְכִּיב אֶפְרַיִם יַחֲרוֹשׁ יְהוּדָה, יְשַׂדֶּד-לוֹ יַעֲקֹב" - basically declaring, that Yəhudà and Ya'ãqòv (Jacob = Israel) shall together attack Ephràyim!! Meaning, what we have here, is, pretty obviously, a description of the dynamics between THREE competing kingdoms - and not two at all.
